The weight of the glasses will be one of the best telltale signs, as the heavier the glasses the more they are worth. By taking your time and taking the proper precautions to ensure that you are getting your money’s worth, you will be able to find the perfect glasses.

Native Sunglasses A Popular Choice
July 16th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedNative sunglasses are the first all sports polarized sunglasses, made especially for extreme sports like windsurfing, playing beach volleyball, surfing, and kayaking. Native sunglasses are also effective for working and just hanging out outdoors.
Basically anyone who is doing physically exerting activities in the outdoors will benefit from wearing Native sunglasses.
Native – The Company
Native Eyewear, Inc. makes exclusively sports-related sunglasses. Instead of paying top dollars for superstar celebrity endorsements, Native Eyewear seeds its marketing budget into local events. Native is a proud sponsor of Nevado Mountain Adventures in Burke, Vermont; East End Volleyball at Club V Beach in Clearwater Beach, Florida; EWSRA/NEWSRA On Snow Demo in Stratton, Vermont; and WWSRA Intermountain On Snow Demo in Keystone, Colorado.
Native is a privately held company located in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. In 2006, the company was sued for trademark infringement by Legacy Paddlesports, LLC.
The company is relatively new to have made such an impression in the sports sunglasses industry. In an interview with Julian Walker of the Northeast Times, marketing manager Eric Grunfeld said, “Our products are in enough of the key players, so our competitors know us.” He went on to say, “We have excellent exposure to the consumer.”
The company launched its first line of Native sunglasses at a trade show in 1998, with six styles in an amazing 44 color combinations. The company now makes nine different styles in 60 color combinations; featuring lightweight sunglasses that stand up to rugged wear.
Native is well known for its cutting edge advertising and promotions. When the company developed a line of glasses in a hue known as Rash Red, it hired attractive female models to wear tight T-shirts that said on the front, “I’ve Got a Rash” and on the back, “Ask me how I can give you one.” Ideas like this get the company noticed.
Although Native Sunglasses does support local water sports events, it also does have a few celebrity endorsement deals. Notable Native Sunglasses endorsers include baseball great Sammy Sosa (a deal which has by now expired) and some NASCAR race drivers, mountain bikers, snow skiers, water skiers, and snow boarders.
Native – The Owner
Owner Jason Wildman’s father was an optometrist, leading to his son’s early interest in the vision and eye care business. After a career in sports licensing putting major league logos on cheap shades, Wildman got out of the business to create a high quality athletic sunglasses design business. Native Sunglasses has been successful ever since.

Get Some Motorcycle Sunglasses
July 10th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedMotorcycle sunglasses almost became a thing of the past, with more and more states and international jurisdictions requiring motorcycle riders and passengers to wear helmets, which make it difficult to wear sunglasses comfortably.
The motorcycle sunglass industry, however, has adapted to the helmet trend. Many motorcycle sunglasses these days are held on by a wide stretch band to allow them to be worn under helmets.
Why Wear Motorcycle sunglasses
You can’t ride a motorcycle without sunglasses. If you’re the driver, you’ll go blind from all the pressure of the wind on your eyes and from all the bugs that will fly into your face. You absolutely must have some sort of eye protection when you ride your bike.
Some helmets come with pull-down visors, but many riders can’t stand these. Besides, when they make a stop and take off their helmets, they still need protection against the bright sun. And all that says nothing about the fashion statement that motorcycle sunglasses make.
Popular Brands of Motorcycle sunglasses
One of the most popular brands of motorcycle sunglass is Harley Davidson. Harley Davidson sunglasses combine style with comfort and protection. These glasses protect against 99.9% of UV rays and are certified to ANSI Z87+ standards. The polycarbonate lenses will last a long time because they are so scratch resistant. Harley Davidson sunglasses comes in tortoise shell, black, or gold frames with a regular lens or a mirror finish lens.
Orange County Choppers is another extremely popular brand of motorcycle gear, including sunglasses. These sunglasses were made popular on the Orange County Shoppers cable television series, worn by Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. Orange County Chopper glasses are made of 99% aluminum and 1% magnesium, for a light, hypo-allergenic metallic finish. They provide 100% UV protection with their scratch resistant and shatter resistant lenses. Each pair comes with a custom leather case embossed with the Orange County Choppers name.
Wiley-X Air Rage Sunglasses are all the rage! Wiley-X glasses have a unique climate control feather because their special Facial Cavity gasket forms a tight seal against your skin. You get all the benefits of goggles in a pair of sunglasses. These motorcycle sunglasses will protect your eyes even in a windy sandstorm.
Motorcycle glasses are also worn just for fashion. Many people who don’t even own motorcycles like that tough biker or biker girl look. Tie a bandana over your skull, slip on a pair of motorcycle glasses and some leathers, and you have a look that will impress and intimidate many people.

Why Do Some People Wear Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses?
July 4th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedEver since the movie Top Gun a lot of people have started to wear mirrored aviator sunglasses. There are a lot of reasons why some people like to wear mirrored aviator sunglasses and probably one of the easiest ones to figure out is that they think the mirrored aviator sunglasses just look cool. If you have seen the movie Top Gun often enough you start to believe that all you need to be Tom Cruise is a pair of mirrored aviator sunglasses and an aviator jacket.
Of course there is a lot more that goes into being Tom Cruise which includes things like Scientology and being completely insane for short periods of time but some guys think that all they need are those mirrored aviator sunglasses and they are all set. There is something about a person that mistakes mirrored aviator sunglasses as being the piece of gear that makes you cool and there is a lot to be said for people that realize that a pair of sunglasses is just one part of being a really cool customer.
Of course as long as movies featuring the sunglasses keep coming out then people will keep thinking it is all they need and all the rest of us can do is hope that the fad passes soon. After all these years I think we are in for a long ride.
Some people like mirrored aviator sunglasses because you cannot see into a person’s eyes when they are wearing them. With most other sunglasses you can still see a person’s eyes even when they are wearing them but with mirrored aviator sunglasses you cannot see the person’s eyes and some of the more mysterious people out there seem to like that a lot. Of course this idea tends to creep most people out and I think that is another thing that some people seem to like about mirrored aviator sunglasses. Let’s face it, some people just like to be creepy and they don’t mind wearing a badge of honor to tell everyone else all about it.
Any Practical Use?
There are practical applications for mirrored aviator sunglasses. They were designed to help pilots keep the sun out of their eyes so they could fly. This is why they were featured in Top Gun. They really were designed to keep the sun out of pilot’s eyes and since a lot of people think fighter pilots are pretty cool then the whole cool thing started. But we already covered that.
You can tell a lot about a person by the sunglasses they wear and there is just something about someone that wears sunglasses that can be considered cool and creepy at the same time. All you need is the 1970’s Hall and Oates mustache and you can consider yourself the ultimate throwback.

Look the Part with Military Style Sunglasses
June 28th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedFor some professions, sunglasses are required components of the work uniform. While sunglasses can be stylish, they can also be functional, and their functions go far beyond mere sunlight protection. The eyes are fragile organs; they can be damaged by UV rays, but they can also be cut, punctured and burned. In high-risk professions such as the military, sunglasses provide a sense of comfort and ultimate protection, especially military style sunglasses. But for those not in the military, military style sunglasses can still be desirable. The feeling of power, intensity, courage and strength that surrounds the military, especially Special Forces, is represented by these sunglasses, and many individuals purchase replica military eyewear to play the part.
Live another Day
Military style sunglasses are usually standard issue for military personnel. While they differ based on branch and assignment (those issued for the Navy Seals are a bit different than those issued for Army pilots), there are a few qualities that are universal across the armed forces. Military style sunglasses always offer UV protection and are crafted using ballistic polycarbonate lenses. These lenses are shatterproof and offer high-impact protection; bullet casings and shrapnel can blind a person, but with these lenses, the eyes are protected from flying debris. Military style sunglasses are also built to be comfortable; the nosepieces and earpieces are padded, and the frames, usually black, are lightweight. While performing such difficult, stressful jobs, military personnel cannot be distracted by their sunglasses.
Military style sunglasses can also come as goggles. Goggles offer even more protection for the wearer; they wrap securely around the head and are often used in conjunction with helmets, night-vision optics and ear protection pieces. They protect military personnel from bullets and debris but also from chemicals, gases, fire and other explosive situations. Even these military style sunglasses are popular outside of the armed forces; they are often used during paintball and other role-playing activities, although they are not normally worn for fashion.
Still, military style sunglasses, while functional, can also be sold as novelty items. While mock military sunglasses still fulfill certain government standards, most do not. They look the part, but they do not play the part. However, this helps to reduce the price for those individuals simply looking for the style, not the function. Impact protection and shatterproof lenses are far more expensive than normal reflective lenses, and non-polycarbonate glass can be substituted to make the sunglasses more affordable for those looking to feel a little tougher, but not actually prove that toughness.

Bang for the Buck: Knockoff Sunglasses
June 22nd, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedWhen it comes to style, sunglasses are a key component. They instill a sense of coolness and renegade freedom. When people think of sunglasses, they think of convertibles or motorcycles, and long drives away from responsibility toward something new, exciting and endless. Through popular culture, sunglasses have earned a place both on the faces of men, women and children, and on the runways of the fashion world. While sunglasses are functional and are even necessary pieces of certain professional uniforms, they are also aesthetic. Knockoff sunglasses exist to fulfill this need for aestheticism.
Many individuals are unable to afford sunglasses from chic designers. If they are looking simply for a fashion accessory, they do not need to worry about government regulations for UV protection and impact resistance; in other words, they do not need to pay extra money for qualities they do not need. They will be a little less particular about the quality, but a lot more particular about the look. Knockoff sunglasses mimic some of the latest designs and mind-blowing styles released by world-famous companies, but offer them at cheaper prices. In the end, many people do not care about a label: they only care about the finished look.
Style for Cheap
Through the years, certain companies and professions have made famous certain sunglass styles. The wrap-around sporting style of sunglasses, made popular by snowboarders and other extreme athletes, can cost hundreds of dollars. While these sunglasses can withstand ultimate wear and tear, knockoff sunglasses that imitate the style are popular with those who will never touch the ski slopes or step foot on a skateboard. Military and police sunglasses are also popular styles that are reproduced as knockoff sunglasses. While not functionally equal, they do look the same, and can cost a fraction of the price. For military personnel and police officers, however, the extra money must be spent in order to promise safety.
Unlike many other fashion pieces, the style of sunglasses are hard to attribute to only one brand or maker. Instead, the designs are ultimately attributed to the people who wear them. This makes it a little easier for knockoff sunglasses to exist without infringing on copyrights, and makes it easier for consumers to find these sunglasses in almost every mall. No matter the desired style, knockoff sunglasses exist that fulfill the dreams of any shopper. From patterned frames to colored lenses, reflective coatings to rhinestones, sunglasses are available in an infinite number of combinations; thankfully, knockoff sunglasses are as well.
